Chris Reimer and Jonathan Roman ended their stay at the Class 5A State tennis tournament on Saturday morning, losing their second straight match in the double-elimination tournament at Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka.
The Emporia High doubles team had lost their first match on Friday before weather suspended their match against Andover Central’s Neal Rasmussen and Tom Flynn until Saturday morning. Reimer and Roman were leading 2-1 when play was suspended, but ended up losing the first set 6-4. They then won the second set 7-6, with a 7-1 tiebreaker, before losing the third set 6-2.
Reimer and Roman lost to Max Robinson and Christian Boschert of St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday 0-6, 6-3, 6-4. The EHS seniors finished their season with a 15-11 record as a doubles team.
