Meet a Gazette mom

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Melissa Guerrero

Age: 27

Location: Allen

Occupation: Stay-at-home mom, former hairstylist

Family members: Boyfriend, Jerad Calhoun, 31; son, Moses Guerrero, 8; daughter, Brionna Calhoun, 6 months

The last time I made my children laugh: The other day when I was dancing around the house to the radio trying to show them how to dance.

The most fun thing about being a mom: Getting to meet other moms and building new friendships with them.

My favorite outdoor activity with my children: Swimming with my oldest child Moses and going for walks with my youngest child Brionna.

I get my kids to eat their fruits and vegetables by: Eating them myself and telling them how good they are or if I don’t like some myself at least getting them to try them at least once.

My no-fail stress reliever: Pedicures!!

I hope my kids inherit: Money one day, so they can provide for me, just kidding — kind of!

My best money-saving tip: To buy off-brand whenever possible.

Three things on my personal “bucket list” are: To go to Las Vegas, go somewhere tropical for a vacation, pay off student loans!

I fit “fitness” into my life by: Taking my baby girl on walks when the weather is nice.

My favorite game to play as a family is: Uno.

I realized I turned into my mother when: I could give a glare to my son when he is in trouble and it makes him shiver.

The future parenting moment I fear the most is: When my son is old enough to date! He is only 8 years old and already has the girls chasing him!

If I could throw a temper tantrum it would be because: Life is not always fair at times.

The one thing as a kid I promised I’d never do as a parent: Not to work so much that I didn’t have time and energy to spend with my kids.

If I had an “I’d rather be...” bumper sticker on my car, it would say: “I’d rather be on a beach somewhere sun tanning.

The one area of my house that needs some serious spring cleaning: Our attic closets. They are such a mess from redoing our roof last summer!
