The Americus Elementary students met their goals for collecting Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels for the 2009-09 school year. The reward for the students for completing this project is that they will be an audience for Steve Mollach, superintendent; Rick Ginter, physical education teacher; Aron Dody, principal; and Bill Leffler, school board vice president, as they kiss a Kansas critter.
This show will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the Americus Elementary playground. The event is open to the public.
Summer sports
There are a few open places on the softball and baseball rosters for the Americus Recreation Organization. If anyone is interested in playing, call or see a board member. Registrations are available at City Hall. Board members are Marcia Johnson, Tim Delcamp, Melissa Rich, Denise King and Josh Hamlin.
