Much appreciated
THIS EVENING I was going through some old papers and came across a card that I received in 1968.
I was taken back that I was so thoughtless to not remember it before now. The card was sent for Valentine’s Day from The American War Dad’s Auxiliary Chapter 87. The kind person that sent it was Mrs. Golden Hollar, 341 Sunnyslope St.
When people take the time to send a card to a veteran, they don’t realize what an impact they make on them. I was only 19 when I received this card, and I was stationed in Chu-Lai, South Vietnam. At the time I received it we were not appreciated by many people in the news. This card was the kind of thing that kept life bearable.
Mrs. Golden Hollar, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God Bless you, your children and your children’s children.

Gary- Thanks for taking the time to write. My Grandmother (not the post-card sender, and passed on now) was also with The American War Dads Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution here.A fine, strong lady that came to Kansas in a covered wagon.Your letter to the paper gave me pause to stop and think about some of these folks that shaped the country and my life..Many thanks for the memories.
