A collision between a deer and a 2003 Chevrolet on the Kansas Turnpike sent an Emporia woman to the hospital early this morning.
According to a report from the Turnpike Authority’s Highway Patrol unit, Alicia Hernandez Guillen, 40, was driving north at Milepost 129, about two miles north of the Emporia interchange, when her vehicle struck a deer, then slid down the median wall and roadway. The accident happened at about 4:50 a.m. today.
Guillen was taken to Newman Regional Health, where a hospital spokesman said she had been treated and released.
