Anti-drug run results

Team 7-1 and Team 8-2 each won traveling trophies for participation Friday at the 12th annual Fun Run Against Drugs at Emporia Middle School’s fitness trail.

A total of 210 students took part in the event. Team 7-1 had the most seventh-graders participating, with 37 student runners, while Team 8-2 had 73 students. EMS has a total of 274 seventh-graders and 294 eighth-graders.

The run was organized by physical education teachers Barb Clark and Matt Holopirek.

The top 10 individuals, listed by grade and gender, were:

Seventh-grade boys and their times: Obed Barkus, 6:20; Drew Stapp, 6:30; Bazill Santos, 6:37; Braxton Marstall, 6:41; Lane Brewer, 6:44; Elliott Smith, 6:45; Ethan Powell, 6:46; Max Detwileer, 6:47; Nollan Kirmer, 6:49; Nick Nelson, 6:53; Dagan Morris, 6:56; Jhon Huachaca, 7:03; Bryan Melendez, 7:13.
