Welcome to Simon’s ‘Dinner Party’
Special to the Gazette
Friday, May 8, 2009
The curtain goes up Thursday on Community Theatre of Emporia’s newest production.
“The Dinner Party” by Neil Simon opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through May 16 with a matinee at 2 p.m. May 17.
The production is a decidedly French dinner party served up in a chaotic mode that only a master of comedy could create. Five people are invited to dine at a first rate restaurant in Paris. They do not know who the other guests will be or why they have been invited. Tossed together in a private dining room, they have a sneaking suspicion that this unorthodox dinner party will forever change their lives.
Members of cast are familiar faces Jan Borst, Jason Henderson, Myrna Stephens and Jim Tefelski along with newcomers to CTE, Stacey Hoover and Dan Leach.
Performances will be at 2705 W. Highway 50, next to Price Chopper. Tickets cost $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for students. Special pricing is available for members and groups of 10 or more.
For reservations, call 341-9283 or visit the CTE Web site at www.cteks.com
