The driver of a semi-tractor trailer was thrown from the vehicle and pinned under its cab when it overturned shortly before 7 p.m. on Thursday near Matfield Green.
According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Donnie W. Hill, 29, of Columbia, Mo., was driving north on U.S. Highway 177 when the truck drifted into the east ditch. It then crossed the road and went into the west ditch, where it overturned onto Hill, who had been thrown from the truck during the incident. Hill was not wearing a seat belt.
He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he was in serious condition this morning in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
