Crumbliss named MIAA player of the year

Friday, May 8, 2009

Emporia State won the MIAA regular season, and now the Hornets are reaping the benefits in postseason accolades.

Conner Crumbliss was named the MIAA’s player of the year, coach Bob Fornelli was named coach of the year and the Hornets placed five players on the All-MIAA team on Thursday.

Crumbliss was joined on the first team by catcher Mike Sharp and first baseman Kenny Burkhead. ESU starting pitchers Ryan Anthony and Tyler Applehans made the second team, and closer Diego Soto and shortstop Andy Cotton were honorable mentions.

Crumbliss is hitting .413 with 47 RBIs, and is second in the MIAA with 79 runs scored and 29 stolen bases. He appeared on the first team for the second straight season.

I have a subscription and get the paper delivered to my house. It's just that it gets there between 4 and 5:30. With kids and getting dinner ready and everything else I sometimes don't have time to sit down and actually read the paper until late at night. I don't have a problem with the Gazette putting up part of the story as long as they have the pdf paper available when they refer you to it.

Beth,

My apologies. Another department handles uploading the pdf. I'll ask them to fix it.

To clarify for others:

1. Any subscriber to the print edition may request a username and password to access the online pdf. This username and password are different from whatever you've set up for posting comments.

2. It is possible to subscribe to the online Gazette only, which, again, gives a unique username and password for access to the online pdf. This is especially useful for people who live outside our carrier area. Some of our readers in far north Lyon County who would get their print paper by mail (meaning at least a day late) as well as Emporians who have moved out of state like this option.

For more on either option, talk to our circulation department. E-mail circulation@emporiagazette.com or call 342-4800 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Hope this helps,
Gwen
