‘Stamp Out Hunger’
Letter carriers from the Emporia post office will have their annual “Stamp Out Hunger” campaign on Saturday, according to an announcement from Duane Dreiling, director of the United Way of the Flint Hills.
Dreiling said that people who want to donate non-perishable foods, such as canned goods and dry or boxed foods, may set the items in sacks by their mail boxes.
The carriers will pick up the donations as they deliver their routes. The foods will be taken to the Salvation Army for distribution to needy families and individuals.
Online chats
Emporia Mayor Jeff Longbine and Newman Regional Health chief Robert Driewer will participate in online chats with Gazette readers next week. Longbine’s chat will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Driewer’s at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Questions may be submitted in advance or during the chats at www.emporiagazette.com.
