A clean-up day, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, will be held at Cottonwood Cemetery west of Emporia. There also will be trimming of shrubs and trees, etc. For more information, call 342-0794.

Lebo alumni banquet

The 113th annual Lebo High School Alumni Banquet will be held May 23 in the Lebo High School gymnasium, with social hour to begin at 6 p.m. and the banquet at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Allegre Drug Store in Lebo or reserved by calling (620) 256-6122. If a class is planning a reunion, the staff at the drug store need to be notified about the number of people attending so tables can be reserved.

An alumni basketball scrimmage will be held May 24 in the gymnasium. The women’s game will be at 1:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 3 p.m. The fee for players will be $5 and admission to the game, $1. Funds will support future alumni events. Lebo School will not be held responsible for accidents, stated the news release.

Babysitting clinic

Newman Regional Health will hold the 24th annual Babysitting Clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12 at the Amend Girl Scout Center, 1200 Burlingame Road. Babysitters age 11 and older are invited to attend the course and learn the Heimlich maneuver, home security, how to handle a police or fire emergency and many other items that will help them become more prepared baby-sitters.

Lecturers for the course include fire and police personnel, a registered nurse and the director of a local daycare center. All participants will receive a copy of “Super Sitters Resource Guide” and “Emergency Care and First Aid Manual.”

A registration fee of $10 will be charged to cover the cost of the textbooks and course materials. Fruit juices and soft drinks will be provided but registrants should bring a brown bag lunch. The course is limited to 50 people.
