Chase County comes back, sweeps two from Burlington

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

The Chase County softball team came from behind to win in a pair of games against Burlington last Friday at Chase County.

The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 after four innings in Game One before putting together three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to get a 6-4 win. Taylor Rains had three hits, drove in two runs and also completed the game on the mound, giving up 11 hits and two earned runs and striking out three. Kelly Hannigan, Ashley Cahoone and Kylee Scott all had one hit and drove in a run for the Bulldogs. Rains and Cahoone each tripled.

A three-run fifth inning for CCHS in Game Two proved to be the difference in a 5-4 win. Chase County got two hits apiece from Erin Eidman, Aubrey Watts and Brenna Riley. Watts had a double and drove in two runs, Eidman and Cahoone each had doubles and drove home a run, and Rains also had an RBI. Hannigan started and finished the game on the mound, giving up eight hits and one earned run.
