Wrong day

In Monday’s Gazette, the wrong day was given for the visit of the “Help Is Here Express” bus that offers prescription assistance to uninsured people. The bus will be at the Flint Hills Community Health Center from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Looking for ideas

The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Chase County is looking for suggestions on how to improve the experience for visitors to the preserve. The staff is planning three public meetings on May 13 — 9:30 a.m. at the Emporia Public Library, 12:30 p.m. at the preserve north of Strong City on Kansas Highway 177 and 5 p.m. in the basement of the Morris County Courthouse in Council Grove. Those who do not wish to attend a meeting may fill out a short survey online at survey.bnim.com/checkbox/tallgrass.aspx.

The preserve is scheduled to break ground in March 2010 on a new visitors center.

Eggs & Issues

The final forum in the 2009 Eggs & Issues series will be Saturday at the Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. Seventh Ave.

Coffee and rolls will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m., when the forum will begin. Administration and board of education members from the Emporia school district will make up the panel.

Eggs & Issues is a series of political forums organized by the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Committee and the League of Women Voters.

The series this year was sponsored by AT&T, Emporia Anesthesia Associates, Emporia Presbyterian Manor, Emporia Public Schools, First Community Bank, Flint Hills Technical College, Hetlinger Developmental Services Inc., Lyon County Farm Bureau Association, Newman Regional Health, and Westar Energy.
