Osage City police arrest two in burglary

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Investigation is continuing into a residential burglary, as well as other offenses, after Osage City Police arrested two teenagers Friday.

James Parks, 18, and Samson Davenport were booked into the Osage County Jail, with charges pending through the office of Osage County Attorney Brandon L. Jones, according to information from Osage City Police Chief Fred Nech.

Jones currently is reviewing reports from law-enforcement officers.

Nech said that the young men were arrested for a burglary that had taken place earlier on Friday in the 700 block of California Street in Osage City.

“As a result of the arrest and burglary investigation, police served a search warrant at 524 Market St. and seized numerous stolen items and illegal narcotics,” Nech said in a news release.

Nech expects additional charges may be filed against others associated with the thefts and possession of illegal narcotics.

seriously folks....

are you asking or offering?

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 8:12 a.m. (Suggest removal)

"bump" is something people do to keep a topic close to the top of the list so people don't miss it and can comment. I wanted to see if I was the only one against burglary or what names people would call me for not being for burglary. You know the normal Gazette forum chat.
So...... burglary, what's up with that, right?

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 11:10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

OK I get it. A lot of people are on the fence about whether they are for or against burglary. Here's what you can do to help you decide, make a list of pros and cons(ha ha that's funny.... cons). Don't be afraid to speak out against burglary folks, I think it's still OK to speak out against. If there are some people for it I'd love to hear your opinions too.

Posted by gg (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 1:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

What would you call two morons blabbing about nothing in a public chat forum?

Answer: seriouslyfolks and biscuitboy

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 1:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

So................ you're for or against burglary? You can be honest.
In biscuitboys defense, I'm the only moron here.

Posted by Weltha (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 2:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

seriously! You can be so funny sometimes. You must be as bored or maybe more so than I am right now. Keep it up. Some times when I read your posts I laugh out loud. seriously! Oh! I almost forgot.

I am against burglary.

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 5:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Only two of us have opinions on burglary? That's kinda sad folks. At least we were both against it. That's somethin' anyway. It's still not too late for a heated but friendly debate. Chime in. The lines are open. Hello, hello?

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 6:59 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well...I certainly don't have to take being called a moron lying down....I don't have to take it standing up either.

But since gg has called me out I must cofess that I too am against burglary....especially if I am the burglaree.

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 7:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

That's the spirit, biscuitboy! Stand up and be counted! Come on everyone!

seriouslyfolks:
It seems to me that you may be taking a gray issue here and trying to make it black and white. I mean, we all know stories of the good guys HAVING to steal from the bad guys...Robin Hood, for example. I am probably against this case of burglary and I sure do hate to split hairs on you like this, but you have asked somewhat of a loaded question here.

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 6, 2009 at 10:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Robin Hood wasn't a "thief" he was just "Redistributing Wealth". I'm talking about burglary. I welcome opposing views on this, I just ask that you would keep it on topic. Burglary, pro or con and why. I have recently recieved news that we who oppose burglary are the largest growing group of people who oppose burglary on the Emporia Gazette forums in Kansas maybe even the whole midwest. So congratulations to all who are willing to stand up and say, "Hey, I don't like burglary and dogone it I'm against it!". It's not too late for those sitting on the sidelines of this hot button issue. Stand up and be counted folks!

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 4:36 a.m. (Suggest removal)

seriouslyfolks....

I fear oh4theluvof may have a valid point about the splitting of hairs.

The last time somebody broke into my truck they split my assest. .....split assets....split hairs.....there may be a pattern developing here. But of course it all depends on just exactly what you mean by split.

Perhaps somebody could eleborate on the meaning of that word.

I still however stand steadfast against burglary and against morons who waste gg's valuable time.

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 5:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

seriouslyfolks.....

......I am racked with guilt.....I believe you and I (known morons both)....owe gg a sincere apology.

and Weltha and oh4theluvof (morons by proxy) might want to consider joining with us. Come on guys...what do you think?

Posted by create (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 7:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The word burglar must be a difficult one to learn for those who speak other languages. The mouth stays in the same position to pronounce it. Try it. (You did it, didn't ya, just to prove it).

It's a noun. But if you need the verb form, it's burglarize. The informal form is burgle. Weird sounding.

The word for burglar in French is cambrioleur. Now there's a mouthful.

Strangest burglary? Authorities in Pennsylvania report that a burglar did burglarize a home there but took only jelly beans.

This is enough.

Posted by methusla (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 7:57 a.m. (Suggest removal)

UUUUUUMMMMM ! Gee I don't know guys and gals ! I guess it all depends on whether you are the burglar or the one who is or has been burgled !
Let me see, hhhhmmmmm ! Oh yea I am definately against burglary or being burgled ! Oh and by the way I have also, been referred to as an idiot, moron, etc.
Interesting topic, isn't it !

P.S. Oh, by the way, does a panty raid while in college count as a burglary ?

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 9:43 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I do apologize to gg if she feels that we have "burgled" her time.

create
I think you make a valid point, we need to be sensitive to other cultures that may speak other languages when spreading the word on being against burglary.(that is hard to say, I have to talk out loud when I type so I would know) But you didn't tell us how you feel about burglary. What do you say? Will you stand up and say,"Hey, I don't like burglary and dogone it I'm against it!"?

oh4theluvof
How about you? Are you against it or what?

gg
I'm not sore at you. I'd like to know that you support being against burglary. Your welcome back anytime.

Some may be reluctant to join or group, thinking it's just another fad, but we are here to stay. Being against burglary is the new Rock & Roll revolution, we are here to stay.

Yes, I am indeed against burglary and burglars as well. I was burglarized in 1980, but the detectives found my stuff at a well-known local fence. They knew it was mine because among the things they found was my high school class ring -- James B. Castle High, '61. They researched it then said, "Ahaaaaaaa, Hawaii." This must belong to _____ because she is the only person we know who is from Hawaii, and who would have graduated in 1961. Sure enough, it was all my stuff except for one thing. A .38 calibre handgun. So now the fence was in mucho serious trouble unless he wanted to snitch who the fencer was and therefore survive to fence again. Snitch he did, and they caught the burglar. I was against that burglar for sure. He went to jail. I was a happy camper. So you see, it pays to be against burglary and burglars who burglarize.

Unfortunately it does kinda count. I know your probably racked with guilt about your class mates having to go commando but the fact that you now stand up and say "I'm against burglary!" more than makes up for it. Plus the statute of limitations on underwear theft can't be too long. It's never too late to be against burglary.

Come on everyone! Where's all the folks that were on the shs forums? Stand up and be counted!

A word of caution here, If you are against burglary then you are taking away that person's freedom to be a burglar. They should be allowed to "burgle". After all they aren't harming anyone. (If you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic.) And they are bringing money into the community. Economic stimulus for the "fencer", lawyers, judges etc. Plus those "burgled" would need to replace anything that was stolen. Perhaps we should vote on this. But, of course us in the county can't vote on this. Burglery doesn't affect us anyways. LOL

I very much appreciate your fresh perspective on this subject! It is definitely time to get this all out on the table, so let's hear it folks( and of course county folks opinions are welcome and encouraged).

gg...we are a sorry lot.... but now I'm also very confused about split hairs and split assets and people being offended that are trying to make an honest living as a burglar...and the french.....and the canadians.....

But I still believe I stand strong against french-canadian burglars.

You have to have some feelings about burglary.
Would it be inappropriate for the Gazette to make a formal statement on where they stand on the whole burglary debate?
How about it Gwen?

Wasn’t the Hamburglar on the McDonald’s commercials a French Canadian? What ever happened to that guy? Did he get busted? I’m totally against burglary.

Posted by Weltha (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 3:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I believe he was. I heard he moved to La. County in Cali. They kicked him out cause "they don't take to kindly to his kind in them there parts"... (to much saturated fat ya see) etc... From there I kinda lost track of him.
For the record:
I'm still against burglary!!!!

Posted by Steve_Corbin (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 3:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Jack Inthebox ran the hamburglar out of ca.

Darn, someone burgled my smokes.

Posted by YY4U (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 3:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Maybe we just misunderstood the hamburglar, he was this guy who had a huge hamburger head that ran around trying to steal little kids hamburgers. Was he a cannibal too? I never saw him eat a hamburger. Maybe the little hamburgers were his children and he just wanted to keep little kids from eating them. I'm still against burglary!!!!

Posted by Steve_Corbin (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 3:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Did you anti-burglars see on another post that ole cracky want's to join in but she is afraid their is a hidden agenda on this thread?

Posted by oh4theluvof (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 3:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It's just not that cut and dried about burglary, seriously. I suppose if you are only talking about wrongful burglary (item(s) have only ever rightfully changed ownership prior) then I will say I am against it. However, if you are implicating Robin Hood with all this, then I will recant. (Who else but Robin Hood could make a citified girly-girl wish she could like in the forest?)
Now, concerning the French, Canadian or any combination thereof: I am against burglary 100% when one of them is involved--or anything else for that matter. It may be a harsh stance, but standards must be held and lines must be drawn--fact of life. biscuitboy is absolutely right on that one. Also, leave it to the French to make a word like "burglar" complicated and all.......French!
I would reconsider my stance on McDonald's if I were you, seriously--the strong anti-burglary advocate--as it is rumored that they celebritize French-Canadian burglars.
No apologies to gg here. gg can loosen up and have some jelly beans............I hear they have some that are good enough to steal in Pennsylvania.

seriouslyfolks,

The only thing I feel guilty about in my college days panty raids, was we could never get the girls to go commando, no matter how many raids and pantys we made off with !

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 5:15 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Welcome all new comers! I am pleased you joined this "serious" discusion! This is absolutely not a trap of any sort. I just really want to get the word out on being against burglary. If this discusion can bring us together on this common ground we share, all the better!

I don't think the Hamburglar was depicted positively in the McD's commercials so I think it's safe to say that Ronald is against burglary.

Come on folks, more discussion.

.....I'm retuning your "B"..... I hope now that I don't get kicked out of the club....and I'm so very repentent. You see i just wanted to see how my username looked with an upper case b and I didn't have one.

....all this talk of commando reminds me of another Chinese Proverb....."crowded elevator smell much different to small person". But if a small chinese commando in a crowded elevator was a burglur.....I would really be opposed to that.

That's OK, you were just kiddin' around.

WOW, so much to catch up on here. I am with the crowd that is against burglary, but then you kind of have to be in favor of it. What else would the police do if nobody burgled? I mean really, burglars are the job security of your local law enforcement.

I still can't track with where evolution caused more women to go panty-less. Is that really where the evolutionary crowd wants to take us? All the way back to wearing no clothes? I have seen enough of the general public to pray that is not the way things are going.

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 8:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Thank you Blackshirt! Another fresh view. We all thank our local law enforcement officers and none of us want to see any of them lose their jobs because of our new and progressive "against burglary" movement. I'm sure there will still be plenty of burglars but they will know that we are against burglary and maybe think twice.

Anyone else?

Posted by biscuitboy (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 8:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

At the age of me and many of my friends I can assure you I would be very oppossed to everybody running around with no clothes on.....I might even be more oppossed to that than I am to burglary

But then a seventy year old fat naked burgler would be almost more than I could stand to envision.

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 9:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It might be a good strategy though. Who would try to apprehend an old fat naked burgler? I'm not condoning this, I'm just sayin'.

Posted by oh4theluvof (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 11:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Just out of curiosity, seriously, is pirating of the role of moderator of a story forum a form of burglary? What do you think, Gwen?

Posted by seriouslyfolks (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 11:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I have asked Gwen to participate but sadly she has not thus far. Perhaps she doesn't want to compromise her status as an investagatory journalist.I have to respect that. Perhaps she is now undercover posing as a burglar workin' on a startlin' expose'. I certainly don't want to blow her cover. Go get em Gwen!

Posted by oh4theluvof (anonymous) on May 7, 2009 at 11:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hmmmmm...................you answered for Gwen, but you didn't really answer what I asked YOU. I really do need to know what you include in and exclude from this term "burglary" that you bandy about here, as you attempt to rally us to your obscure cause.

As for the nudity of "fat, seventy year old burglars," I have to say that is an excellent diversion to escape capture or identification. If I were for burglary (which I haven't committed an answer to yet) I would encourage this tactic as a preferred evasive maneuver for our older citizens who can't run very swiftly but wish to take up the profession.

Back in the days, I ran a narc-o-trafficking ring in central america. Because of my personal knowledge of the culture and beliefs of Hispanic males, it served me best to only allow homosexual men to participate in my drug ring. My carriers would walk towards the police and the police would walk to the other side of the street. None of the cops wanted to "frisk" my carriers because they didn't want to be harrassed by the other cops. Free Market Society, All ya got to do is understand the market. I'm using fags to sell tax free cigarettes today......Just saying.......

Not trying to avoid you all, just enjoying this thread. Haven't laughed this hard in a long time. As for my personal view, sorry, but I won't comment on that until I retire.

As for The Gazette... Logically, we would support a law-abiding stance, which would make us against burglary. Then again, what would we print in Daily Report if there weren't burglaries?

If the alleged burglars are keeping ink on our pages, perhaps we should support burglary. An interesting conundrum that we'll debate in editorial meetings.

Now you can thank me for being the 50th post and pushing you to a forum... your goal way back up the thread.

Here's your forum:
