Optimists
The Flint Hills Optimist Club met April 23 for Youth Appreciation Week to honor seniors from Emporia, Northern Heights, Olpe and Hartford high schools. The guest speaker was Jeanine McKenna, chief executive officer of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. Also recognized were members of the FHOC committee who helped organize the recognition, Janna Stegmaier, Betsy Yanik and George Durler.
High school seniors honored were: from Emporia, Corinne Edds, Joel Bland and Joel Christiansen; from Hartford, Logan Grieder, John Roberts, Amanda Zweimiller and Jessica Smith; from Northern Heights, Robyn Meahl, Tess Hobson, Amy Lee and Erik Pracht; and from Olpe, Courtney Kuhlmann, Brianne Davis, Wade Schmidt and Camille Webb. The meeting was held in the Flint Hills Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
Sertoma
Members of the Sertoma Club voted to donate $500 to Camp Alexander summer camp. Work is under way to prepare the miniature train for the summer season.
