The Emporia High softball team’s slump continued on Friday at Manhattan.
The Spartans lost their eighth and ninth straight games. They lost 4-0 in Game One and it only got worst in Game Two. They lost 10-0 in five innings and Manhattan’s pitcher threw a no-hitter.
“We’re just not hitting the ball,” EHS coach Ray Owens said. “We’re struggling the last couple of games. We’ve had a couple of one-hitters and no-hitters thrown at us and we’ve got to get out of that slump.”
Cassondra Huth kept Emporia in the opener and the Spartans trailed only 2-0 going into the sixth inning. But the offense could never get going. The Spartans had only three hits, two singles by Whitney Page and a Lenae Wells single.
