OVERLAND PARK — The Emporia State softball team is going to have to come through the back side of the bracket if it’s going to win its sixth straight MIAA tournament.
The Hornets’ tournament winning streak ended at 21 games with a 6-1 loss to Missouri Western in the second round Friday. They face Fort Hays State at 11 a.m. today and will have to win two more games after that to earn a berth in Sunday’s championship.
“We can do it,” senior first baseman Jennifer Dace said. “We’ve got the pitching to do it and our offense is the best in this conference. Compared to all the other teams that are riding one pitcher the whole way, I think we have the upper hand.”
