ESU tennis teams lose to Truman
The Emporia State men’s and women’s tennis teams both fell to Truman in the MIAA opener for both teams. The ESU men fell 5-3 and the women lost 5-4 at the indoor courts of the Wood Valley Racket Club in Topeka.
Because of the expected hazardous road conditions today, Emporia State’s MIAA tennis match at Missouri Western, scheduled for 3p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo., has been postponed and will be made up at a later date.
RMAC honors Fornelli
Emporia State baseball coach Bob Fornelli was honored by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference earlier this week. He was named the head coach of the All-Time RMAC Baseball Team in honor of that conference’s 100th anniversary in 2009.
Fornelli coached Fort Hays State from 1997 through 2003 before returning to his alma mater in 2004. While at FHSU, he had a record of 306-113, including four RMAC conference championships and five trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Since returning to ESU in 2004, Fornelli has an overall record of 239-94, making him the second winningest coach in ESU history by percentage.
