Margret Davis, 58, of Madison Wis., was taken to Newman Regional Health and transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment after an accident at 4:09 a.m. today at Milepost 134 of Interstate 35.
She was a passenger in a car driven by Timothy Davis, 61. He told Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy James Baker that he had swerved the car to avoid hitting a deer that ran onto the road near the end of a bridge. He overcorrected his steering and the car struck a concrete bridge railing.
The car received extensive damage to the front end and driver’s side, Baker said. Both were wearing seat belts.
Timothy Davis was treated at Newman and released.
At press time, Margret Davis still was being treated in the emergency room at Wesley.
