Siren test schedule
If you’re used to hearing the Emporia’s severe weather sirens being tested on Wednesday, you’ll have to get used to another day — the sirens now will be tested on Saturdays.
According to a press release from the Emporia Police Department, next week the sirens will be tested at noon on Saturday and will continue that way each Saturday through September.
Also, the siren located at 1800 Industrial Road did not sound or rotate during Wednesday’s test and the siren at Jones Park sounded but did not rotate. A service company has been notified.
The secret bunny
Starting Saturday, the Neosho Rapids Community Projects Committee is sponsoring a “Secret Easter Bunny” contest. Starting Saturday, ask anyone in the Neosho Rapids area, “Are you the Neosho Rapids Secret Easter Bunny?” The first to find the bunny wins a $25 gift certificate.
The winner will be announced at the Neosho Rapids Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. April 11.
