The weather forecast has forced the Emporia State baseball team to move its weekend series with Washburn back two days. With temperatures forecast to be in the 30s with a possibility of snow on Saturday, the series has been moved to Sunday and Monday.
The Hornets will travel to Topeka on Sunday for the first half of the series with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. at Falley Field. The teams will then wrap up the series on Monday in Emporia at Glennen Field with a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
The need to move the games is due to an MIAA rule that states: “Teams have three consecutive days in a five-day window (Thursday through Monday) to play their four-game series. The three-day period starts on the day the first game is scheduled or rescheduled. Any games not played within this three-day period may not be made up.”
The Hornet softball games with Truman and Missouri Western scheduled for Friday and Saturday have not been rescheduled at this time.
Youth Day activities at the Trusler Sports Complex scheduled for Saturday have been canceled and a makeup date is yet to be determined.
