Business has new name

Saturday, March 21, 2009

A 22-year-old Emporia business has changed its name. Langenwalter Carpet Dyeing & Cleaning is now Carpet Cleaning Concepts by Dallas.

Dallas Tebben, owner and operator, is a master cleaner, observing the practices of the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration. The certification status means that he has completed classes in cleaning, restoration, deodorization, repair and reinstation.

The business, specializing in homes and apartments, cleans carpet, upholstery and ceramic tile and grout and restores areas after flood damage; other services include automobiles and area rugs, in synthetic and natural fibers.

The principal cleaning method is hot-water extraction, also known as steam cleaning; however other methods such as rotary bonnet cleaning and shampooing and rinsing are available on request.

The business, which serves surrounding towns and areas up to 50 miles from Emporia, is at 1739 Road D; the phone numbers are 342-3941 and (800) 279-6086. Its Web site is www.carpetcleaningconcepts.com.

Tax workshop planned

Emporia State University’s Kansas Small Business Development Center is accepting reservations for a sales and withholding tax workshop, from 1 to 3 p.m. May 5 at the meeting room of the Lyon County Extension Office. Reservations, which should be made by April 28, may be made at 341-5308 or by e-mail at ksbdc@emporia.edu.

The workshop will explain the differences between the Kansas retailers’ sales tax, the Kansas compensating use tax and the Kansas consumers’ consumers compensating use tax. It will explain record-keeping and filing requirements, form preparation and the use of exemption certificates.

The curriculum also includes an overview of the Kansas income-tax withholding requirements, responsibilities for employers and payers, filing requirements, form preparation and the requirements and procedures for paying estimated income tax.

Business owners and those who plan to own businesses may pay the $10 fee on the day of the workshop.
