Bus to the market

A RECENT EDITORIAL concerning the local Farmers Market suggested that LCAT provide special runs to transport people to the Market. Readers may be interested to know that this service already exists, not just to the Farmers Market but to many locations throughout Emporia.
On Saturdays, LCAT provides a Demand Response bus service within Emporia city limits from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This differs from normal route service (Monday through Friday) in that riders must call the LCAT office to secure a ride and that buses provide home to destination rides instead of public route bus stop locations. Riders may call for rides anytime but pick up times are subject to bus availability. Riders may schedule rides 24 hours in advance and these are given priority over call ins. All buses are handicapped and wheel chair accessible and the service is for the general public. We encourage anyone wishing to visit the Farmers Market or other locations in Emporia to call LCAT. It’s a good way to get around.
LCAT is pleased to support the Farmers Market and other Emporia businesses through its Saturday service. To schedule rides or for more information, call the L-Cat offices at 343-4207.

That's nice to know! I wish LCAT was around when I was in college. What a great service.
