Beautiful byways
The Kansas Scenic Byways Program has released a new Kansas Scenic Byways Guide highlighting the state’s nine scenic byways. The guide includes an insert of the Kansas Scenic Byways map on one side and Kansas wildflowers on the other.
The designated scenic byways in the Emporia area include the Flint Hills Scenic Byway along Kansas Highway 177 from Council Grove in Morris County south through Chase County to Cassoday in Butler County. North of Emporia, the Native Stone Scenic Byway is a loop through Shawnee and Wabaunsee counties on Kansas Highway 4 and Kansas Highway 99.
The new guide features the work of several Kansas photographers and is funded in part by the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration through the Kansas Scenic Byways Program and in partnership with the Kansas Department of Commerce, Division of Travel and Tourism. Individual orders for the free Kansas Scenic Byways guide may be placed at Travel and Tourism’s website www.travelks.com. Click on “Free Visitor’s Guide.”
