Card shower requested
The family is requesting a card shower for Jim Rhoads (J.W. Rhoads Used Cars) for his 80th birthday on Monday. Cards may be sent to him at 127 Merchant St., Emporia, KS 66801.
Road closings
A portion of a major artery for county-city travel is expected to be closed from 8 a.m. Monday until the end of the month.
According to an announcement from the Lyon County Road and Bridge Department, workers will tear out a cross-road culvert and install a new one between Road 180 and 190. The closing also will include 18th Avenue at Burlingame Road.
Work on a bridge between Roads D and E on Road 300 also is scheduled to start on Monday. The road closing is estimated to last approximately four weeks.
