Norman S. Kidd, 40, of Emporia has pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of distributing child pornography, according to Jim Cross, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office.
The investigation into Kidd’s activities began in July 2007 when an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Innocent Images Unit in Maryland searched for child pornography on “Limewire,” Cross said. Limewire is a peer-to-peer file-sharing program.
“Rather than downloading or uploading files to a central computer, Limewire users store files on their own hard drives,” Cross said in a news release. “Limewire allows them to download files from other users’ hard drives and to offer files for download by other users.”
The agent downloaded images of child pornography from Kidd’s computer in Emporia. The photos included pictures of girls 8 to 12 years old, who were naked and displaying their genitals.
On Jan. 31, 2008, agents executed a search warrant at Kidd’s home, where they seized computer equipment containing images of child pornography.
Kidd will be sentenced on June 19 and could face five to 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
The case has been brought to court as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

I don't know the man, but how in the world can pornographic pictures of babies be sexually arrousing? Disgusting would be a more appropriate description. Has anyone looked at the map that shows the convicted sexual offenders homes in our area? Thank goodness we can still own guns.

Yes, I looked at the map, and you're right, dale, it is worrisome. I'm told that some of those addresses are incorrect too because offenders have moved.
We need further reporting on this issue to answer such questions with regard to correct addresses, what, if any, treatments are available, and whether or not they are being monitored. As I understand it, the Mental Health Center no longer offers counseling on this sickness.
This particular person lives quite near an elementary school. I don't know whether there are any local laws regarding where convicted sex offenders can live. Of course, this jerk was not convicted until now.
I don't think these jerks should be allowed to own computers, ever. But that begs the question -- who checks? It makes me wonder if a guy like this has a family and whether or not anyone in that family has been harmed. If he had a wife, why wasn't she aware? Is she complicit? Lots of questions and lots of anger.
Someone on the other thread on this story mentioned those little-girl beauty pageants. Those people dress their little girls up to look like grown women, teach them to flirt and pose provocatively. They're just as sick.

Steele- Do you have any idea how big that isle would have to be to hold them all? Most would be shocked to know how many baby rapers go thru the LYCO courts each year, let alone in the state, or entire country.
Create- A good majority of them are insecure loners with more than just a sick sexual desire, they have other issues as well.
I had to escort one extremely disgusting child molester back to jail from the Courthouse one day years ago after he had taken the stand in his own trial to testify. He told the court his mother ran a daycare out of their home. Often he was left in charge while the mother slept or went shopping. He admitted molesting little girls when he helped them use the toilet. Occasionally his mother would have him take some of the kids to movies so she could nap in peace. He proudly told of digitally molesting a 5yr old girl during the movie, actually laughing while he told how nervous he was about getting caught because she was crying out loudly in pain. That was one stressful long walk back to the jail having to over-ride the very strong urge to issue the kind of justice he so deserved.

Wow, neighbor, you must have the soul of saint. I would have shoved him in front of a truck as we stood at the street corner. As a dad, this SOB never would have made it to court, and I would probably be in the defendant's chair.

Neighbor, it sounds like you and I may have worked together at one time. I remember many long walks down the alley with those types. It takes an unusual amount of self-control to be anywhere close to civil with them.
Longer sentences or shorter ropes.

I worked there from 89-93 Blackshirt. I got to drive the maggot to SRDC when he lst went to prison. Those that don't know this, in prison no matter how low of life form most of the people are there, even felons have no use for those who prey on females and kids. The morning I took him to the prison system, all the prisoners already there were out on the caged basketball court when we arrived at the reception center. The usual taunts filled the air, the welcoming of new meat on the block. Several told him that he was going to become their girlfriend. I hollered back at them that they were out of luck, that he wasn't their type, that he preferred toddlers and grade school kids. I thought they were going to tear the fence down to get at him. Suddenly his crimes werent so funny anymore. The sneer he typically always wore on his face had disappeared and had become the look of terror. He asked me why I had done that to him, told the others what he was arrested for. I told him that now he was going to feel what is was like to be preyed upon and not to expect any sympathy from anyone. I told him it was time to pay his dues for hurting kids, that he was now the kid and he was going to find out what it was like to have people that were bigger, stronger, meaner than him molest his world. I smiled big at him knowing that his night and time in prison was going to be most unpleasant. I made sure the trustees that worked around the booking area also heard what he was charged with and how he had laughed about hurting the poor little girl in court. You could of heard a pin drop in the room, no one was laughing in there, and I guarantee you every con on the property knew about his case in minutes. I left the miserable excuse for a human crying and shakening in his boots. I would have liked to been able to go hug the little girl, to make sure she was getting the care she needed. That's when I realized I had no idea what she looked like, where she lived, or who she was. They had kept her identity protected/concealed during the trial. I hope she doesn't remember any of it today, hopefully her young mind was able to block it out back then. She would be 24-25 yrs old today.

I worked with this guy and he told me that it was about downloading movies, this charge is far worse, just think of all of the eight to twelve year old girls that came in to that workplace, and the fact that I have a eight year old daughter. Sick!!!!!
