Women’s clubs
Six area high school students participated in District music auditions sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in Junction City on March 7. The students were sponsored by the Emporia Literary League.
Three Emporia High School seniors, Taylor Main, Aaron Wyatt and Delano Mendoza, entered the vocal category, along with Briana Alvarado, a freshman at Emporia State University.
Piano contestants were Rachel King and Liza Mussatto, juniors at Osage City High School, and Robyn Meahl, a senior at Northern Heights High School.
All the contestants were in the top three of their category and are eligible to compete for State Auditions to be held March 28 at Bethany College in Lindsborg.
Robyn Meahl placed at the top of the District auditions and won the $250 District scholarship. She is the daughter of Jeff and Beth Meahl of Admire.
Before the auditions, the students presented a music program for the Literary League meeting on Feb. 19 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church. Members of Parliament Club were guests.
