Arndt makes All-Centennial 1st team
Emporia High junior forward Lindy Arndt was selected as Centennial League elite, making the all-league first team, and EHS senior post Lexi Hileman made the second team.
Arndt and Hileman helped lead Emporia High to a fourth-place finish in the Class 5A State tournament, which concluded this weekend. Known as a defender who can guard opposing players at any position, Arndt was also selected to the league’s All-Defensive team for the second consecutive year.
Joining Arndt on the first team were Washburn Rural’s LaSharra Riley and Alexa Bordewick, Manhattan’s Catherine Carmichael and Shawnee Heights’ Cierra Ceazer. Along with Hileman, the second team included Hayden’s Aubree Luebbe, Junction City’s Erica Testa, Seaman’s Jessica Sowards and Shawnee Heights’ Taylor Floyd.
Riley was selected as the league’s player of the year, and M.J. Massonet of Manhattan was picked as the newcomer of the year. Washburn Rural’s Bill Annan was selected as coach of the year.
Leihsing to hold ceremonial signing
Emporia High senior soccer player Ashley Leihsing will hold a ceremonial signing on March 25 in the EHS library to commemorate her signing a letter of intent with Hutchinson Community College.
Leihsing, who also played volleyball and basketball at EHS, signed with Hutch back in November but decided to hold her ceremony after the Lady Spartan basketball season was completed. Her ceremony will begin at 3 p.m.
