The legacy of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency is the basis for the first of Emporia State University’s Lectures on Liberty series. Burton Folsom Jr., professor of history at Hillsdale (Mich.) College, will speak March 25 about his new book, “New Deal or Raw Deal: How FDR’s Economic Legacy has Damaged America.”
Folsom’s lecture takes place at 7 p.m. at the Granada Theater in downtown Emporia. The address is free and open to the public.
“The talk should be quite timely, given the renewed interest in the New Deal and its economic legacies for America due to our current economic downturn,” said Dr. Gregory Schneider, ESU associate professor of history and organizer of the lecture series.
The Lectures on Liberty series is underwritten by a grant from the Fred C. and Mary R. Koch Foundation of Wichita.
