A little rain Monday afternoon could not interrupt the final week of training for a group of new firefighters for the Emporia Fire Department.

At Fire Station No. 2, the trainees laid their hoses and practiced shooting water from the ground and from the ladder truck onto the training tower behind the station.

The new firefighters will report for duty next week.
