Zoning requests

A request for approval of zoning of land for the use as a rock quarry is among the items on the agenda for Wednesday evening’s Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board meeting.

Sam Seeley, Lyon County Zoning Administrator/Floodplain Manager, said this morning that Dale Davies of Reading Rock owns the property at Highway 170 and Road W, which he is requesting to be re-zoned for a rock quarry. The property is about 80 acres.

“They’re re-zoning the whole amount,” Seeley said. “They are (planning on) quarrying close to the center of the property. It’s an extension of the rock quarry that is already there. Just to the north of it they have been quarrying.”

In other business, the board will hear a request from Harry Haag to zone about 10 acres at 714 Road U for a single-family dwelling.

The board also will review the county’s comprehensive plan and zoning regulations and go over possible changes to the regulations.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County Commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse, 430 Commercial St.
