Emporia City Commission
The Emporia City Commission will have a special action meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Conference Room 1 at Civic Auditorium, 516 Mechanic St. Commissioners will look at applications to the Kansas Department of Transportation for transportation enhancement projects.
Following the action session, the commission will hold a study session. Items to be discussed include:
• proposed changes to the 2009 general fund budget.
• 2008 revenues and expenses actual to budget in the water, sewer and solid waste funds.
• reprioritize water, sewer and solid waste funds budget and CIP.
• discussion of arena seating bid replacement project.
• discussion of consolidating dispatch service with Lyon County, followed by a tour of the Lyon County dispatch center and the Emporia dispatch center.
Emporia Public Schools
The school board expects to approve bids for a building remodeling project when it meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. Seventh Ave.
The bids will be for classroom remodeling at Lowther South Intermediate School.
The board also will consider approving the audit report for Fiscal Year 2008.
Among other items on the agenda are:
• a curriculum report on “Imagine It Interventions”
• notice of nonrenewal of contracts for certified staff
• a second reading of proposed board policy
• a legislative update from Superintendent John Heim
An executive session is scheduled to discuss contract negotiations with the teachers’ union.
