Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Coffey County Commissioners contributed $2,250 to high school after-prom committees. Burlington High School will receive $750 while South Coffey County High School, Lebo High School and Waverly High School will receive $500 each. These amounts are the same as last year. The contributions come from three county funds: special parks and recreation, diversion fund and special law enforcement fund.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Coffey County Hospital will have an updated telephone system and a new automated pharmacy dispensing system. The telephone system improvements will allow hold messages to be played as well as allow callers to dial directly to patient rooms.
Waverly
The Coffey County Republican reported that Patti Bishop, a principal from the Topeka-Seaman USD 345 school district, has been hired to step in as the superintendent at the Lebo-Waverly USD 243 school district. Bishop has been principal of Rochester Elementary School and Topeka-Seaman USD 345 since 1998. She received her doctorate in education in administration from The University of Kansas in 2002 and her master’s degree from Kansas State University in 1982 and her bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University in 1979. She has certification for grades K-9 in elementary teaching, mentally handicapped and behavioral disorders.
