P.E.O. Meeting place changed
P.E.O. Chapter DI has changed its meeting place this week. The group will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at the Emporia Country Club.
Birthday cards wanted
The family request a card shower for Grayson Spade, who will celebrate his 90th birthday on March 12. Cards may be sent to 1841 Road 280, Reading, KS 66868.
Playground day
The first Peter Pan Playground Day is set for May 3. Organizers invite the community to come together “to keep alive the excitement at the completion of building the Peter Pan Playground and the community involvement it generated,” stated the news release.
In June 2008, organizers of the playground construction went to the Emporia City Commission and asked the members to proclaim the first Sunday of each May to be Peter Pan Playground Day.
This year will be the first anniversary of completion of the playground. Preparations for the event will be done completely by volunteers, so help is needed.
The Playground Day will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the grape arbor shelter. Serving of the potluck meal will begin at 5 p.m. Those who can help with planning and arrangements can call Mary Forsythe at 343-7342 or Mike Dorcey at 794-3476.
