WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama was to introduce this afternoon his choice as health and human services secretary — Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
The announcement comes just days before the president holds a White House summit on health care. Lawmakers from both parties and representatives of major interest groups, from insurers to drug companies to consumers, will attend.
The resignation of the governor will mean that Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson will fill the remaining two years of Sebelius’ term.
