The Emporia Quail Unlimited Banquet on Tuesday promises an evening of good food, good company and games and raffles.
The banquet is held to raise funds for area wildlife habitat creation and improvement as well as funds to encourage youth involvement in outdoor activities.
“Our Quail Unlimited board members have worked hard for 26 years to make our chapter one of the nation’s best,” said Ron Whitney, chapter president. “Virtually all the funds we raise are spent right her in the greater Emporia area.”
Whitney said there is a variety of hunting packages, outdoor adventures and wildlife prints in the auction as well as firearms and games and raffles.
Habitat-improvement projects the Quail Unlimited chapter is involved in include providing native grass and forbs seed; planting winter food plots; cost-sharing on projects; and providing equipment for habitat planting. The chapter also assists with youth natural resource conservation education projects and firearm and hunting safety.
The banquet will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a steak dinner. Advance tickets are $45, which includes the $30 Quail Unlimited membership and dinner. Spouse and children tickets and associate memberships are $20. Annual membership for people unable to attend the banquet is $30. Tickets can be purchased by contacting any Quail Unlimited member or by calling Thayne Cozart at (620) 279-4345.
