A day for veterans

JULY 4 is another day we proudly honor our soldiers and our veterans, past and present. I would like to say thank you to each and every one of our local and area veterans and welcome home!
While we are fortunate to have veterans from other states who are interested in our All Veterans Memorial, our local veterans continue their service, standing watch and caring for the All Veterans Memorial. Local and area veterans have given of themselves and many continue to do so without mention and notice. It’s what they have always done. It was how they were trained. And, too often it is what is expected.
Many veterans groups, individual veterans and citizens, the city of Emporia, the chamber and visitors bureau, state of Kansas and beyond — all work together to enhance the memorial.
As we approach Independence Day, I hope all who read this letter will remember what the Fourth of July is really all about. I hope you understand and deeply appreciate our veterans for standing guard, taking care of and protecting our country and its citizens. It is because of our veterans that we can celebrate in most any manner we choose. All our local and area vets have given of themselves in one way or another. Although our veterans may be home and may appear to go unnoticed, please remember and give thanks to our veterans and the sacrifices they have made for each and every one of us.

You can visit our proud veterans. They are STANDING OUTSIDE the VFW, since Emporia City Council and CAE threw them out into the street! You people are too cruel to even be believed!!!!!!!!!!!! YEP, you put our heros out in the street like criminals. Do you think they feel better now? Do you think they deserve this? Personally, I think they feel let down by their neighbors and their Country. Has the Emporia Gazette done an interview yet with the guys standing outside in storms and in the heat? No, I didn't think so. I guess the City Council figures a 70 year old vet can still take the harsh elements. Sorry, but the only word I can think of to describe what I feel about this issue is DISGUST!

crackinsack......I used to have one of those old fashioned record players that used the old vinyl records. Some times the record would get a scratch causing the needle to stick then it would play the same few words over and over again. It was very irratating....Kinda reminds me of you sometimes.....Just kidding of course.

If you want to talk to Vets, MANY of them are standing outside the V. Just the facts. Right , wrong, or indifferent. So you are saying that vets who smoke are in some way beneath contempt? AND......

Oh, Baby, if you don't see what's wrong with THAT statement, you DO need to see a professional! The numerous complexes you are displaying are textbook antisocial and border on borderline personality disorder! Please see a doctor immediately.

I didn't serve with pats on the back in mind, but if someone offers up a thanks it would sure be nice to accept it without having to wade through the smoking nonsense.
I don't care what side you're on. There's a time and a place for everything, and this thread is neither the time nor the place.
If you want to thank a vet in this thread, great. If you want to debate something that's been beaten to death a thousand times over, than STFU!!!
