“King Tut,” “Creeping Jenny” and “Little Henry” are all “Knock Out’s” on the Seventh Annual Emporia Garden Tour which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Many interesting plants, including those mentioned above, will be featured in the diverse gardens. From small patio gardens to large corner lots, there are plants in sun and shade. Some gardens got their start 40 years ago, others are brand new. Each offers a unique story and gardeners will gain ideas from them all.
This event is sponsored by Lyon County Extension Master Gardener volunteers who use proceeds from the event for horticulture education in Lyon County. Tickets are available at Water’s True Value Hardware, Riverside Gardens, Davies Nursery, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and the K-State Research and Extension office for $5 in advance or $7 the day of the tour.
Tickets will be available at all tour sites the day of the tour. A plant sale will take place the day of the tour at the 4-H Diner picnic area at the Lyon County fairgrounds. A variety of plants and gardening items will be available at the sale. There will be six sites on this year’s tour; five private and one public garden.
