The Emporia AAA team dropped a pair of road games Wednesday to the Salina Falcons.
Playing the third and fourth of five games in three consecutive days, the AAAs were run-ruled 13-3 in Game One, then got off to an 8-0 first-inning lead in the second game before losing in six innings by the monstrous score of 26-18.
“Both pitchers from both teams couldn’t throw strikes, and it was just walking people, and we had guys on both teams who got hit by pitch,” Emporia coach Brad Kelly said. “And both teams, when they got a ball in the zone, were hitting it. But all those walks just loaded bases up, and when teams did get hits, it just scored a bunch of runs for both sides.”
