With the loss of three substantial sponsors, the National Teachers Hall of Fame is trying to chart a course that will ensure its financial stability.
The NTHF board of directors will hold meetings this week to discuss fundraising plans that will help keep the hall of fame going, according to Michael Lane, board chair and ESU President.
“We’re discussing a fundraising plan on Friday,” Lane said. “We’re probably going to create a development committee so that we can put together a plan to raise some additional funds.”
The hall of fame has recently lost three big sponsors — the New York Times, Pearson Education, and Sodexo. Each contributed about $20,000 a year, Lane said.
The NTHF also is trying to sell its former home on C of E Drive, and has been for some time. Lane said the renters who shared the building and made it possible to operate there have left, making it financially undesirable to stay there.
“The existence of those renters made it financially feasible for us to operate the building, but when they went away we weren’t able to afford to operate there,” Lane said.

If you want to keep it going, move it to a community that cares about such things. You'd think that such a community would exist in Emporia because of the college's long history in teaching teachers, but you would be mistaken!

We had hopes that changes in the administration at ESU would have brought about positive changes for the college and the community. -->Oh Well!
