A pair of clutch two-out rallies on Tuesday night at Trusler Sports Complex gave the Emporia AAAs a big win over the Manhattan 17ers.
The AAAs scored five runs on four hits with two out in the bottom of the second inning of Game Two, then took advantage of Manhattan mistakes to add the deciding runs with two out in the sixth, salvaging a doubleheader split with an 8-6 victory.
“(The second inning) was key, and that’s what we talked about in between games,” Emporia coach Brad Kelly said. “We’ve got to do all the little things right, and hits like that, good things start happening when you start doing the little things right. We did a good job of that (in) that second game.”
