Senior Citizens Spelling Bee
The third Kansas Senior Citizens Spelling Bee will be held Oct.16, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. in Salina at the Webster Conference Center, 2601 N. Ohio.
The grand prize will be a $1,500 scholarship to attend the National Senior Citizens Spelling Bee competition to be held in June 2010 at Cheyenne, Wyo.
This Spelling Bee is open to any Kansas resident who is 50 years or older by Oct. 1, 2009.
There is a $5 entry fee payable in advance, with checks to be made out to the Salina Senior Center.
Entry forms are available on line at www.salhelp.org/aging/spellingbee or by calling (785) 827-9818 and are due by Sept. 28 to the senior center, 245 N. Ninth, Salina, KS 67401.
Entry forms are also available at the Humana Booth at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson and the Flint Hills Area Agency Senior Fair on Sept. 22.
