Jacob Loucks looked ready to put the Emporia A-16 Blue squad on his back and carry them to the Jock’s Nitch Classic championship on Sunday at Soden’s Grove.
As it turned out, plenty of other pairs of shoulders pitched in to do their part.
A nine-run seventh inning turned a tight championship game into a blowout, and Loucks homered and doubled twice to go with a complete game on the mound, leading the Blues to the tournament title with a 12-1 victory over Manhattan Manko Jr.
