The Emporia Police Department and the 911 dispatch center is now allowing local businesses to register and maintain with the police department a call list of individuals who may be contacted in the event of an emergency.
“Oftentimes our officers will find an open door or a broken water pipe and when they attempt to locate a responsible party are unable to do so,” Said Gary Smith, Emporia Police Chief. “Businesses with alarms have been have been required to register with us; however, the option has never been extended to those without alarm systems.”
Starting today, Emporia businesses may download a form from the police department’s Web site or stop by the Emporia Police Department, 518 Mechanic St. A form also can be faxed or mailed by calling 343-4200.
