As Emporia State University’s masters in business administration program continues to grow, including offering classes in Overland Park, it will soon have a new director.
Bill Barnes, an instructor at ESU’s school of business for eight years, will take over the MBA program’s director position starting in July. He will replace long-time director Don Miller, who will return to the school’s full-time faculty.
Leadership is a role Barnes is comfortable in, and one in which he has a good deal of experience. He came to Emporia in 1983 as a plant manager for Modine Manufacturing and then became president of Kansa Corp.
“When I left Kansa, I was looking for something to do and there was an opportunity at ESU,” Barnes said. He started teaching in 2001.
