Friends will honor musical family
James Starr and his wife, Bonnie, will have much to celebrate on Saturday at a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 24th Avenue and Graphic Arts.
The public event is an acknowledgement of Starr’s recent retirement from a 34-year career in the music department of Emporia State University, where he was associate professor of violin.
But it is more than that.
“This is a family celebration,” said Bonnie Starr. “And it’s the kids that wanted to do it.”
As part of the celebration, the musical family will perform, separately and together, at a program set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
