A Zumbathon to benefit Mariah Serrano and her family is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium at Emporia High School.
Mariah was injured critically in a collision May 29 between a semi-tractor trailer and the car in which she was riding. She remains in critical condition in Stormont-Vail Health Care in Topeka.
This morning at 1:06 a.m., a family member posted a journal entry at www.caringbridge.com, to provide an update on Mariah’s condition.
She ran fevers ranging up to 105.0 degrees on Saturday night, and the fever continued to run high as of the early-morning post today.
Doctors have ruled out an infection in her abdomen.
“We were told today that since they cannot find it anywhere in her body, it is more than likely in the brain,” the journal stated. “...(H)er neurologist, will be here in the morning and hopefully be able to give us more direction on what we do next.”

I hope this child will be able to recover from her injuries.
