The best crowds the Flint Hills Rodeo has drawn in 10 years watched three days of events and entertainment at the 72nd gathering for the annual event.
“The entire rodeo has been good this year,” said Frank Morgan, vice chairman of the rodeo board of directors, on which he has served about 22 years. “Our entries are up this year quite a bit.
“We’ve had really the best year in 10 years,” board president Jason Lewis said, estimating Friday night’s crowd at 3,000 and Saturday night’s at 5,000.
Lewis and the board were pleased with the outcome, which wasn’t marred by rain nor competition from the 20 other rodeos Lewis estimated were going on the same weekend.
