The sixth annual Art in the Garden Show will take place this weekend among the beautiful gardens of Toad Hollow Iris and Daylily Farm, just east of Emporia. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the magnificent flowers, good food, festive atmosphere and a variety of original artworks by local artisans, stated the news release. There will be paintings, drawings, fiber art, hand-carved stone sculpture, iron sculpture, jewelry, stained glass, photography and wood carving. A large variety of daylilies, iris and garden plants will also be for sale.
Admission is free and there is plenty of parking. A food booth sponsored by Camp Wood will have a variety of refreshments including “delicious” sloppy joes. All food sales benefit Camp Wood. There will be a silent auction featuring works by participating artists. All of the auction proceeds go to scholarships for ESU art students. Last year, $600 was raised for derserving students. Come out and enjoy the art, music, good food and the peaceful, radiant gardens of Toad Hollow.
The hours for the show are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Toad Hollow is four miles east of Emporia just off I-35. Take exit 135 (Road 1) south one block, then one block east on Road 170.
