90th birthday celebration
Laura Schlobohm will celebrate her 90th birthday at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.
Helping her celebrate will be her children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggest a card shower for those unable to attend. Cards may be sent to Laura in care of Charles Schlobohm, 2420 Road Y5, Reading, KS 66868.
Laura Lunsford Schlobom grew up in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School and the College of Emporia. She went to Reading to teach high school English in 1941, where she met and married George Schlobohm. He died earlier. They had four children, Bill, Sally, Charles and Alan, who died earlier. In 1955, she went to Osage City High School where she taught English for 27 years.
She remained in Reading until she returned to live in Emporia in 2005.
